Core Handling Skills modules
1:1:1, just you, your dog and us.
Our handling skills modules cover the most common behavioural challenges such as pulling on the lead, jumping up, recall difficulties, and confidence building. The core modules are delivered over 3, 60-minute sessions, typically a week apart so that you have time to work on the skills you and your dog have learned.
- The Recall Module We start with non-verbal recall at close proximity and over 3 sessions work up to verbal or whistle recall over distance and with distraction.
- The Loose Lead Walking Module Building confidence in your dog to walk by your side, both on and off the lead, in different locations and with distractions, delivered over 3 sessions.
- The Polite Greeting Module Helping your dog to meet people and other dogs in a calm, confident manner, whilst keeping four paws on the ground. Delivered at the pace your dog is happy with, over 3 sessions.

Advanced Handling
Advanced handling modules are available and completely flexible.
These advanced modules could focus on a specific area such as hand signals or just raise the game on skills already developed. All modules can be delivered as a one-off session or in blocks of 3.

Intro to Fun Gundog Module - Coming Soon
Fun time with your dog, whilst also embedding some developmental skills.
A 3-session module, suitable for all breeds, where we introduce the core elements of gundog training. Your dog should have previously shown some interest in retrieving items such as toys, balls or even socks!
Based on the Gundog Club grade system 1 and 2, we cover, amongst others:
Obedience – Loose lead walking; Sit, Stay, Recall, Retrieve, Dummy heeling holds, Whistle commands, Steadiness,
The 3 D’s – Distance; durations; distraction.

Highly Reactive Dogs
If your dog is highly reactive or has previously shown aggression to dogs or people, we regret that Brixham Dog Training is unable to provide training in these circumstances. We recommend that you refer to the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers web site (IMDT) to identify a suitably qualified behaviourist who may be able to support you.
